As the automotive industry transforms into a data-driven business, software takes a central role in the development and maintenance of vehicles. With more software comes also cyber security risks, liabilities and regulations. Legacy approaches become inappropriate for the task. The result – both OEMs and suppliers are struggling to cope with the increased risk of automotive software.
A novel approach to this problem is presented – building a digital twin for ECU software for the purpose of continuously monitoring its exposure to cyber security risks. Using this approach vendors gain full visibility to cyber security risks. This can help both operational fleets as well as vehicles still in the pre-production phase.
